For those interested, there is a group that meets at 8pm on Monday nights that studies historical German martial arts. Our primary focus has been on longsword,
but periodically some of the guys do I.33 sword and buckler as well. The group is run out of Texas by our main instructor, Scott Brown, and right now we have
three regulars including myself. I'm also talking with the guys there about working in the park on Saturdays, both for an extra day of practice and also as
something of a demo for anyone who may be interested.
The group meets primarily at an Okinawan martial arts dojo not far from Carondolet Park. I don't have the exact address but it's not too hard to find.
Head downtown, either on 70 or 44.
Take I-55S
Exit at Loughborough Ave, heading west (if you're coming S on 55 it will be to the right)
Turn north (right, if you're coming from 55) onto Morganford Rd.
On Morganford, I think it's right at the intersection with Holly Hills, you'll see an AutoZone/Autoparts store on your right Turn into the parking lot, and head towards the far north end (the end farthest from the store). You can park either in that very last row of spots, or if they're full on the side street (I THINK it's Federer but am not sure offhand).
There's a small white building with I think two blue side doors across you'll see across the side street. That's the dojo, and you can enter through the door on the right.
