Before you read farther, this document will be organic until such time that we feel it is finished. Unit leaders and members please post here if you think we
should have additions or changes to the items mentioned. I have done this with the best of intentions, so please let's work on this together. This is for
new people to read when they come to the board, so the accuracy is VERY important to me.
The local leadership of units will now have access to a special forum in order to promote discussion without cluttering this forum. If you think you are a representative of a unit and you can't see the "Circle of Steel", then you should post here and let me know.
Currently there are 7 units in Arnor. You may form your own units if you wish. If you wish to form your own unit you need a few things:
1) A theme (who are you)
2) A uniform (what you wear - this could be something like "We all dress like Egyptians", it does not mean you are wearing identical cloths (altho similar appearance is preferred))
3) 3 local active members (ACTIVE - They come to at least half of the practices at either Forest Park or WashU) OR be a part of a recognized national unit
Here are the current Arnorian units with a short description:
MOREDAIN (BLACK NUMENOREANS)
This is 1 branch of the Iron Crown army. The local leader is Griffith. This is a national unit.
STANDING ARMY OF ARNOR
This is the default unit of Arnor. People borrowing gear from King Angmarth are considered to be in this. This unit is absorbed by the Iron Crown at events. There is no current leader for the army. Until one is found, it is by default King Angmarth.
HOBBITS OF THE SHIRE
The hobbits are the members of Arnor who are under 16 years old. Altho the 14 and 15 year old may fight, they are still considered part of this unit. The leader of the hobbits is the sheriff. There is no current sheriff. Until one is found the default leader is King Angmarth. If a hobbit is interested in being sheriff, he needs to speak to the King himself. If he is deemed worthy he will be appointed sheriff. The sheriff's office is reappointed every year and the term ends on December 31st or when the player turns 16.
URUK-HAI
This is 1 branch of the Iron Crown army. The local leaders are Fenris and Thraka. This is a national unit.
HENNETH-ANNUN
This is a national unit. While it does not officially exist in Arnor, its members fight with us occasionally and it is worth mentioning. One of its founding members is an Arnorian knight, Sir Daemarth.
FIANNA
This is a national unit. The Fianna are a group of Celtic warriors that dress and fight as Celts. The local leader of the Fianna is Oisin.
MERCENARIES
Mercenaries are those unaffiliated with anyone but themselves. They have their own garb and weapons. They do not wish to be a part of any unit, but still come to practice and fight with everyone else. The leader of the mercenaries is the Guildmaster of Mercenaries. Currently their is no Guildmaster. The Guildmaster of Mercenaries is determined by strength of arms. He can hold the title as long as he is able to defeat his challengers. He may be challenged by any mercenary wanting the position ONCE per week. If he is defeated then the new captain takes office and is immune to further challenges until the following week.
BLACK COMPANY
The Black Company is a national band of mercenaries from all of the realms of Belegarth. The Black Company prides itself on a military structure, and holds in high regard the "ring" you earn as you become a member. The Black Company holds no loyalty, nor swears any fealty to anyone save those who have worked a deal with the master of The Black Company, Fergus McCaskill. If you are interested in The Black Company, contact the local representative Olos.
